A Case Study on Homeselect.rs

In the autumn of 2022, we began working on the performance marketing of Homeselect.rs, a website focused on listing and promoting real estate. When we took over, the website was receiving an average of 300-400 daily visits. Our goal was to reach 3,000-4,000 daily visits within six months, within a specific daily budget.

The project:

  1. Background:
    We were approached by a youthful team operating in the real estate market in Serbia, seeking to improve their visibility on Google’s search results. They had previously engaged a marketing agency with good references, but the results were not satisfactory. They found our company when they were in need of a change and we started negotiations in the autumn of 2022. The transition took place during the winter, and we took over the project.
  2. Starting Point:
    The website was not ranking within the top 50 pages on Google search results. Additionally, the daily traffic averaged around 300-400 visits. They had Facebook and Instagram profiles, but with a limited number of followers. The development of a backlink network had not been initiated. Google Ads was the only channel that was delivering results for them. This is where we began.

3. Challenges:
Regarding SEO, the website had only undergone technical SEO improvements, but this alone was not sufficient for higher rankings on search engines. SEO consists of three components: technical SEO, on-site SEO, and the development of a backlink network (off-site SEO). Therefore, the other two aspects of SEO were lacking, resulting in poor ranking.

Their social media profiles had a significant number of phantom followers on Instagram, leading to algorithmic shadow banning. The Facebook profile also had a low number of followers, resulting in low reach and engagement.

Since this website primarily relies on online visibility for its success and growth in the real estate market, it was crucial to improve and expand its online presence to the maximum.

4. Solutions:
For SEO, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the entire website using tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog. Once we received the reports generated by these software tools, we prioritized and addressed the main issues. In addition to the technical improvements, we created a blog section and started optimizing the website’s content. We shared topics with high daily search volume on Google. Simultaneously, we began building a backlink network with 8-10 monthly links of varying Domain Rating (DR) values on Google. After three months, the website started ranking for an increasing number of keywords. While there is still much work ahead to reach the first page, the results have demonstrated that we are moving in the right direction.

For social media platforms, we started from scratch by deleting their existing profiles and creating fresh ones. This allowed us to avoid the negative consequences of shadow banning. It quickly became evident that their target audience was more active on Facebook, so we focused our efforts there. Currently, their Facebook profile has over 5,000 followers, with a monthly reach of 500,000. Through Facebook, they receive 2,000-3,000 daily clicks to their website. All of this is achieved within an optimized budget. We also opened TikTok and YouTube channels for them to ensure their presence on all relevant platforms, as video content has a longer lifespan within algorithms compared to images.

With Google Ads, we discovered that by optimizing the campaigns, we could achieve the same results with a lower budget, providing cost-saving benefits.

5. Key Takeaways:
It is often tempting to work with large marketing agencies due to their impressive references and data-driven decision-making. However, we recommend collaborating with individuals who are genuinely passionate about delivering excellent marketing results. Only those individuals can invest the necessary energy into a project, resulting in remarkable outcomes.
Let’s not forget that SEO encompasses multiple components.

When it comes to social media, it is essential to identify the platforms where our target audience is most active and share content that resonates with them. The content should appeal to the audience rather than just satisfying our own preferences, as this is what leads to conversions.

6. Achieved Results:
The website now receives 4,000-5,000 daily visits. The channels utilized include Google Ads, organic search, and various social media platforms.
